LIGHTHOUSE
The portable table lamp with minimalist design is a simple shape of a transparent solid cylinder with a gradient pattern on its surface.
The direct light source is integrated into the bottom of the cylinder and oriented vertically. The cylindrical body acts as a light pipe, directing the light from the bottom to the top. The light spreads beyond the bar thanks to the reflector, which is a flat reflective surface located inside the cross section of the cylinder and inclined to the main axis. The bright areas of the light source are hidden by an opaque pattern that condenses at the bottom and disappears at the top, providing comfort for the eye.
The simple shape hides a complex technology. The lamp is equipped with a wireless charger. Therefore, it can be carried when needed. In addition, the bottom of the bar contains a touch film that allows you to turn the lamp on/off by touching the bar and adjust the brightness by sliding your hand up and down the cylindrical surface.
A full-body shape creates some refractive distortion, so a simple reflector shape looks quite different depending on the direction of view. Thus, the combination of the simplest shapes provides a eye-pleasing refractive play due to the properties of the materials.
The concept was designed for Maytoni in 2021.
